Supposedly Christianity is the fastest-growing religion in China. This includes both Protestants and Catholics. It seems peculiar to me that Catholicism is even allowed in China. It seems at odds with official government dictates. After all, China has a one-child-per-family policy, whereas Catholicism has a one-child-per-sperm policy.

Here’s another great graphic from my [confined] space.
I was reading the headlines in yet another fundie “news” source, this one is called “The Church Report”, when I came across this headline: “Dobson Clarifies Comments on Harry Potter”. Usually, when you see a headline like that, it means that somebody was quoted by a newspaper as making a thoroughly insipid comment that caused [...]

DefCon reports that Texas Governor Rick Perry has appointed a creationist to head the State Board of Education! Phil Plait does a good assessment of this, and he ends with: It’s a disease, a virus, and now the brains of millions of schoolchildren in Texas are at risk. Worse, Texas (along with California) has an [...]
I found this cartoon on the website of cartoonist Mikhaela B. Reid. I hope she doesn’t mind my reproducing it here. I also had to rearrange the panels to fit my space constraints (but it is better to have a narrow blog than a narrow mind!). Go check out her website. She also has a [...]
I’ve got two more notes about Tammy Faye that I couldn’t fit into the last post (since it got so depressing at the end!). Fresh Air rebroadcast an interview with Tammy Faye. You can listen to that here. You may have also seen things like the above image. It’s fireplace crystals that you sprinkle into [...]
