Meme Slapped

It screams

So Greg Laden hit me with a meme. I’ve been hit with memes at least twice before, but the perpetrators never told me about it. I only found out when I was checking incoming links a month or two later. If you hit me, you have to tell me!

The rules are:

  1. Link to the person who tagged you.
  2. Post the rules.
  3. Write six random things about yourself.
  4. Tag six people.
  5. Inform the tagees and the person who tagged you.

So here are some not-so-random-but-at-least-slightly-interesting facts about me:

Me, in another universe
My alternate career path

1. I was cast in the John Travolta role in a remake of Saturday Night Fever. The film never got made, because the producers backed out. Of course, it was a student film, but it still counts! This was back in high school, when I took a class called “Audio/Visual Communication” (In that class, we also made our own version of Charlie the Hamster.). The producers were my fellow students, of course, and they discovered that they could get the same grade by recording a couple of crappy songs instead of making a whole movie (even if it was just a short). Anyway, I’m not bitter about my lost stardom. Disco sucked anyway. But somewhere in a parallel universe, I’m a Scientologist.

What Disney copied

2. I was one of the first people in the entire world to recognize Japanese animation as a distinct art form. I may have even been the first person to coin the term “Japanimation” (in the early 1970s). That term fell out of favor in the 1980s and was replaced by “anime” when the rest of you slowpokes finally caught up.

3. I once incited a riot. I left just as the cops were arriving. My job was done.

4. I’ve been struck by lightning. Actually, it was the car that got hit, but it still counts! Helpful hint: If your radio dies during a storm, you have about 200 milliseconds to get ready for a surprise!

This is not my record-setting score

5. I once held the unofficial world record in Astrosmash. One of the video game magazines had a monthly column where they listed the top scores for a zillion different games. At the time, the score listed for Astrosmash was ~200,000. My score was ~800,000. All I had to do was mail them a photograph of the final screen. I took the picture and then was too lazy to send it in. A few months later, they published a score higher than mine.

6. I went to school with Bernie Koppel’s nephew and that kid from Voyagers.

So now I get to continue the cycle of abuse. I tag:
