The borrowing/stealing of earlier myths is something I’m still researching at the moment. I have a number of books on the subject that I hope to get to soon (I will be reporting on these books as I read them). At the moment, I don’t know enough to have a strong opinion on exactly what happened, if indeed there are sufficient remaining clues to piece this puzzle together. The fact that Christianity (and Judaism) incorporated pre-existing mythology is documented and well known. I’m just not an expert (yet) on all of the details.

BTW, look for a review of “The God Who Wasn’t There” sometime in the next few days. It has been sitting in my Netflix stack for the last couple of weeks.

P.S. Thanks for the link!

Hey, how are you?
Actually, the evidence for xtianity borrowing from Mithraism is slim to none (I attribute this mostly to Theodosius' edict, & the destruction of the Mithreums). A better & closer analogy would be Sol Invictus.
I've linked to you, BTW, at http://biblioblography.blogspot.com
