LOL Brian. Indeed, a worthy cause and prudent protection. I’m sure you’ve all seen by now the rantings of crazy right-wingers at the latest McCain/Palin rallies where they are yelling things like “terrorist,” “kill him,” “traitor” in response to mentions of Obama’s name.

I’m not sure if McCain actually wants Obama killed or he’s just ignorant of what a bunch of racist right wingers are capable of when it comes to a black man potentially acheiving success in, well, anything. I retract my previous statement about McCain probably not being a racist. I’m not so sure anymore.

What is it with presidential candidates making me late for frakking work?!? Some of you may recall my adventures navigating around the McCain campaign’s roll-out of Palin a few weeks back. So yesterday I’m driving down I-75 when traffic comes to a complete stop. By complete, I mean that there were people getting out of their vehicles and chatting. I assumed there had to be one whale of an accident up ahead and began plotting another way around it. All at once, everything starts moving again as if nothing had happened. As it turns out, the Secret Service temporarily shut the thing down because Barack Obama had just arrived in Dayton for an event and was leaving the airport I was about to pass. Oh well, at least this time it was for a worthy cause.

That’s why we need instant-run-off voting. Then you don’t need to do anything at all to force each major party to do anything. Parties will form, grow, corrupt, and die as part of a normal life cycle. Meanwhile, smaller start-ups will be given the leg-up they need to allow the public to no longer fear “throwing away their vote” by not voting for one of the two majors. That’s the key. The way to make it happen is by starting local. If you can get your city to have instant-run-off, then the next step is county. Then state, then national!

You know, I’ve been doing some thinking. I’ve heard it suggested that the Republican party should be allowed to die out entirely, and a newer (saner) political party should take over. Because the Republican party has become so rotten and corrupted by the corporations and the Religious Reich, as we’re all painfully aware of.

While this sounds good in theory, I can’t help but think that were this to happen, the funny mentalists would just latch onto that party that rose to power, and like a brain-sucking parasite, hijack and corrupt that party, and thus pervert its original ideals into something ugly and unrecognizable, as has happened with the Repubs. What would be next? The Libertarians? The Independent party?

I’ve also heard that both of the major parties should be dissolved, and that a bunch of smaller parties should take over…but, I’m not so sure that’d work so well, unless this country’s political system underwent some major changes.

This is just food for thought guys…lol.
