As a side note, the comedian Eddie Izzard made an interesting observation about some of the vilest men in history. Hitler was a painter, Pol Pot was a history teacher…Stalin was a former seminarian. It seems like the real evil comes from the places you least expect.

It’s hard to know whether the mind-numbingly vapid tone of the video was meant to steer the ignorant but wavering fundy back onto the straight and narrow, or was a pathetic attempt at mockery of “them smarty-pants atheists”. My experience of fundies is that they generally lack a sense of humor (at least an intentional one, anyway) and cannot comprehend irony. Like you, LadyR and Brian, I have come to the conclusion that it’s just sheer stoopidity intended for other proud yet defensive stoopids.

On the one hand, I would say that such an example of human stupidity is only intended for like-minded people. Perhaps the fundie buffoons that put this together never seriously expected it to convert any atheists. It’s really intended, I think, for those who might not have fully given themselves to the dark side yet, or those who might be thinking of straying off the reservation.

But, on the other hand, these are fundies we are talking about, and it seems that whenever I say something like that, they exhibit a remarkable ability to over-perform in matters of credulity and gullibility. Its worth remembering that these idiots really do believe the crap they say they believe, and, furthermore, they really do expect their fantasies to seem credible and reasonable to non-christians, as if atheists have no idea what message christianity revolves around.

Sorry, christians. I do know what the message is, and its fucking stupid. Take your primitive bullshit and get out of my century.

Oh no worries…I didn’t want to sound condenscending. I took 3 semesters worth of classes that studied the French Revolution in depth (The History of the Enlightenment, Modern European History, The French Revolution) as well as various classes that dealt with aspects (Modern European Art, various philosophy classes). I’ve just had this all pounded into me.

Anyways, those Frenchie names shur sound fun-nie :-p
