Yeah I’m with Logoseph on the whole peanuts/legumes thing too, so I didn’t get the reference at first either.

After watching some of that video, I remembered what it was thst drove me from my home town in the first place. I’ll give you three guesses and the first two don’t count. If you said ‘fundies’ you get a cookie.

I actually got suspended for refusing to take off a pentagram necklace unless they enforced the same on crosses. Needless to say, once I hit 18, I was out.

Now, I feel horrible for the majority of the children in the above video, as it seems there is a very similar situation, with no one having the balls to stand up and say: This is a place of learning, not indoctrination!

Ah, I see. Ever since I learned as a young child that peanuts are legumes, and therefore more closely related to peas than nuts, I think my mental filing system just put them with the legumes. This may be the first time scientific knowledge has actually hindered my comprehension of an atheist joke. Usually you have to know Kepler’s theory of planetary motion and what a Klein bottle looks like to begin to find them funny.

After watching part of the video Kevin, notice there aren’t many crowd shots. The one good one in the first 1/3 of the video showed young people looking very bored.

There is likely a good number of parents who don’t feel comfortable with this, but in such a fundie community who is going to stand up to them? I hope there is at least a few parents brave enough to stand up to the fundie “crusaders.”

I feel a little stupid, but why would an atheist see a Xian as a peanut? I get the “atheists are devils” thing, but are they referencing a “shell” of ignorance or something? Please explain.

Parrotlover77, that’s a two way radio he has strapped to his belt. He was using it later in the video. But you are right, for some reason guns and god do seem to go together.

Did you all notice that many of the students in the audience did not look happy to be there - judging by their faces and body language. I bet they had no choice in going to this thing.

This whole thing is very upsetting. There is no way that this should have been allowed to take place.

Plus, the way the guy talked about the lawyer (who was afraid of a lawsuit), it makes you wander if they had something to do with the man’s death - especially considering he had an evil little smile on his face when he spoke. This whole thing is disgusting!

Parrot, maybe the guns are some kind of phallic symbol for the sexually repressed xtians. You know, something like — “I can’t shoot off m’gun cuz God’s watchin’, so I’ll just shoot off this here rifle instead” — kind of thing. That would explain the big calibers too.

Okay I couldn’t suffer through the whole video link, but what I did notice right at the beginning…. Is he just casually walking down the street in that video with a sidearm? Or does he have just some kind of gigantic cellphone that connects directly to God?

I know Obama got shit for it, but why do God and Guns go together so freaking often? The “Gays” part I get since it’s against the holey bible (pun intended), but guns? Doesn’t that completely go against the “thou shalt not kill” stuff?
