Thanks, PL. I really do worry that thoughtful conservatism is growing rarer and rarer. I may agree with some of their official positions, but seeing the videos of tea party events and the signs these wackos are carrying and the things they are saying just makes me terribly, terribly sad.

You are right that the ruling party needs strong opposition. It just seems like the concept of “loyal opposition” is going out the window. I may disagree with his policies, but I respect the President and I recognize just how historic his election was.

OtherRob – I do really feel sympathy for you and the other sane conservatives. I’m dead serious here. It’s not fair for you because it makes all conservatives look insane and that’s clearly not true.

I’m way left of mainstream, but even I recognize that every ruling party needs a strong opposition party to keep them honest.

The problem right now is that the opposition party is flat-out 100% insane. Any formerly remaining sane members lost their sanity when the teabaggers took control and they decided to cater to their batshit crazy views.
