I don't get it...God gives us free will to kowtow to him, or not kowtow to Him...and yet, the Fundies say YOU MUST WORSHIP THE ALMIGHTY! YOU MUST NOT HAVE AN INDEPENDENT THOUGHT OF YOUR OWN OR YOU WILL GO TO HELL!!!!!!eleventyone!1

Buh??? Okay, if God gave ME free will, sorry crazies, but I reserve the right to exercise it as I see fit.

And I choose to be a spiritual agnostic, pro-choice, gay marriage supporting, godless, metal-music loving heathen!

Oh, and I believe in that whole Darwin thing, too. 'Cause you know, it's backed up by fact and logic. I never was big on the faith thing.

So there! :p

What I don't get is why even give man an opinion? God seems to only want servants loyal to him...so why bother with an opinion that could and would go against his own?

I guess the whole point is to 'have faith' but really...what is the point of it all? I've never seen any fundie or theist for that matter give an answer to this.

I read once on a soldier's blog (who was going through a huge moral conflict and eventually became a conscientious objector, although was having a hard time convincing the military about his conversion) that a priest in his unit -- A PRIEST -- told him it was okay to kill the enemy, as long as he didn't enjoy it.

You gotta love that twist. As long as you don't enjoy it?!?!

"meaning of life"? When I was in the USCG in the early 90's, my last station seemed to have a large number of serious x-tians. Most were benevolent. One was a fundie ahead of his time (I found out about global warming after he told me it was bunk). He was also pro-life and pro-capital punishment. He doesn't seem to be an exception. How many x-tians rally against choice but support capital punishment and the war in Iraq? It's an ideological conflict I can never understand. "Thou shalt not kill" doesn't come with a footnote that reads "unless you really want to"
