XD And then they say that if you are bi, you are just confused. IT’S ALL A TRICK OF SATAN! (Who most of them STILL think is really Lucifer…but that’s just the fundies’ ignorance and taking the Bible literally word for word.

You know, I really hope the people who illustrated this don’t ACTUALLY believe that the only condemnation of homosexuality in the Bible comes from Leviticus. Paul, the very OBVIOUSLY repressed gay (the one who never married, traveled with younger men, and had a “thorn in his side” which was never further described), commented a couple times (Romans 1:26-32, I Cor 6:9-10, I Tim 1:10) about how gays are horrible and will never go to heaven. Of course, obviously, Paul had no understanding of human psychology, as he believed that people who once lived a certain lifestyle could be completely changed (when, as in the case of alcoholics, we know that you are ALWAYS a recovering alcoholic).
In any case, there is ample reason to believe that Christianity needn’t rely on the Old Testament for its homophobia – although the New Testament is basically Pauline Christianity and has, in some cases (most especially rampant homophobia), no basis in the teachings of Jesus (as recorded by the Bible and the apocryphal books).

Actually one of Paul’s companion, in fact the closest, is Junia, who is female. It is later writers who changed it to junio and made her a him.

Personally, I’m not as concerned with where they find their scriptures to rant at protests. There is really only one question that I continue to plague the fundies I know with:
If God is all loving and compassionate, why would he create to simply condemn?
I actually had a priest tell me as a child that I was paying off past sin. Anyone know how that would work when there is supposedly no reincarnation?

To ‘me’
Ah- are you refering to the story of a supposedly omnipotent creator deity who created two human beings with no sense of right or wrong and who then got into a tizzy when the two did something he told them not to do? Seeing as they, y’know, couldn’t know that it was wrong to not do as they were told…
I think Poe’s Law applies here—I can’t tell if you subscribe to the story or not. The ‘lol’ could mean that you’re simply referencing the story as the rationale behind the priest’s statement or that you’re amused that someone could ask the question in the first place because the answer’s right there in Genesis.
Would you clarify, if you’re so inclined?
Thanks!

LOL, what? That’s one of the most retarded things I’ve ever heard in my life.

Technically, they should all be way too busy selling off all their worldly possessions and giving the proceeds to the poor to worry about “teh gays”, but of course most Christians worship a combination of the OT and Saint Paul. Jesus who?

The old testament v. new testament issue got pointed out to me recently (0utside of the comic) and it posed another question: if homosexuality was so bad according to the old testament, why the heck was it not a COMMANDMENT? I mean, fundies seem to have no problem with killing (prohibited by a commandment), but have an immense problem with homosexuality (mentioned within text, but less often than the prohibition on eating pork).

I know, right? “Thou Shalt Not Bugger Thine Own Gender”. And they conveniently ignore the prohibition about pork, and a myriad of other rules that would make life in modern society difficult. And I love how all these “ur gonna go to HELL” Christians forget one of the other little rules they’re meant to follow: Judge not, lest ye be judged. It’s like they treat their religion like a buffet table: they only take the bits they want.
