Obama Aborts Osama

Fox does it again

The president the fundies hate so much has done what they’ve wanted for the last ten years: Kill Osama bin Laden.

So how is a proper fundie supposed to react?

That’s right, by blaming Obama for “murdering babies”!

One of the most extreme fundies I’ve encountered in five years of doing this blog is disbarred-Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt. I discovered him only two months ago, when I came across his get-rich-quick scheme.

I subscribed to his emails, and they’ve been doozies. Every other fundie talks about how bad this or that thing is and, by the way, could you throw a couple of dollars my way. Klingenschmitt talks about whatever he’s offended by, then requests that you pay him gobs of money to fax Congress. He makes sure you understand just how important it is that you (pay him lots of money to) fax Congress right now, if you want your voice to be heard! Emails and letters and phone calls aren’t nearly as effective as (paying him tons of money to) fax Congress right now!

This morning I received a typical email from Chaplain Money Grubber. I couldn’t find a copy on his website, so it looks like you won’t be able to follow along at home. I’m sure if you paid him, he’d be happy to fax you a copy right now!

He writes:

Obama kills Osama, but will he stop killing unborn American children?

We all grieved when 2,966 innocent civilians were killed on 9/11/2001.  But who grieved yesterday when 3,821 innocent unborn Americans were killed in abortion clinics across America?  Or the day before that?  Since 1973, more children are killed every day by abortion than were killed on 9/11, now totaling 53,000,000 deaths over 38 years.

I am proud of our military today.

But I am not proud of our President.  Mr. Obama claims credit for “justice” provided by the sacrifice of our military heroes, who killed the murderer Osama Bin Ladin.  But when will Obama provide equal “justice” for the 3,821 children murdered every day by abortion?   When will he budget $700 Billion dollars (equal to the Pentagon) to fight domestic terrorism that slaughters Americans in the womb?  Instead Obama funds domestic terrorism, paying the baby’s executioners with our tax dollars, to repeat 9/11 every day in abortion clinics across America.  Let Mr. Obama’s real war on “terror” begin in his tax policies. Sorry, Mr. President, you don’t get credit for winning one war, until you stop funding the other.

No. There is no “war on babies”, but there is a war on women’s civil rights. Let’s stop that war instead.

Wow, that is low even for a fundie nutter. Though to be honest, I’m a bit surprised I haven’t seen more comparisons between abortion rates (which fundie programs actually end up causing more of ironically enough) and 9/11. Even so it still leaves a bad taste in ones mouth, the kind that can only be relieved by spitting it upon the bastard who said this kind of hateful crap.

The Fundie weapon of choice has always been a well-fueled blame-thrower.

Won’t somebody think of the billions — nay — trillions of potential babies killed every day by teens masturbating? What a way to die… at the end of an old gym sock or kleenex.

    “Domestic terrorism”? Seriously?

I’m trying to imagine how much better things would be in this country if we had 1,360,276 more people added to the population every year.

I really think Obama is gaining some serious cred with a certain type of conservative. I recall that many conservatives loved the way the standoff with the Somali pirates went. They loved the bullet to the brain in Somalia and most of them are loving it with Osama. They respect it when a president deals with our REAL enemies. Maybe Obama will go down in history as the bullet to the brain guy.

As for the abortion debate: I can only say that while I understand that the anti-abortion movement is largely an anti women movement, I think that the pro-choice folks are not making the right kinds of arguments. If you let abortion opponents make it a matter of baby holocaust versus women’s interests, women will lose. We need to attack antiabortion arguments at their fundamental premises.

Here’s a pretty good suimmary of Singer’s position:

I would also recommend _The End of Life_ by James Rachels as a good overall book of life and death issues.

You make a good point there. I guess right now I’m assuming no fundies are reading this blog—at least no fundies that I would ever have a chance of persuading. For the wider audience, you are right. What I wrote up there isn’t the right approach.

Singer makes some interesting points. I’m not sure they’d be effective against fundies, though.

  9. Lindsay Says:

If modern science can’t convince fundies, nothing will. They live in world in which the cold hard reality of the world we live in does not touch.

So yeah…a million or so extra people a year. A good many, which I would presume, be sucking off the gubberment teat.

I’m just wondering when we’re going to have to start keeping menstruation records and turning them in with our tax forms. Had a missed or late period? Automatic audit for the “D&C” (read, “abortion”) you might have had.

Obama could have personally pulled the trigger on bin Laden himself and most conservatives would still find something to bitch about. They decided a long time ago to torpedo his presidency any way they can.

  12. Kevin Zimmerman Says:

How strange for Klingenschmitt to turn Bin Laden’s death into his anti-abortion crusade. And isn’t there some inconsistency in being pro-life and in congratulating the military for killing Bin Laden? Why is he okay with Bin Laden’s death?

  13. Sue Blue Says:

Brian: Let’s face it – if Obama was sprinkling magic fairy dust everywhere he went, with peace and joy and prosperity following in his wake, these guys would find a way to claim it was the ghost of Reagan magically saving us from the evil black man’s voodoo. They live in a world where all the grapes are sour, all the time.

  14. Ron Britton Says:

That’s why they have a perpetual sour whine.

I agree with this. But I think its a bit sick and twisted that the only part of Obama’s numerous policies and beliefs that conservatives can get excited about is when he orders the military to kill someone. Truly, Republicans are a death cult these days. Ugh.

Obama could have personally pulled the trigger on bin Laden himself and most conservatives would still find something to bitch about. They decided a long time ago to torpedo his presidency any way they can.

For the first time in many years, I think it is important to distinguish between conservatives and conservative pundies and politicians. The latter group will never accept Obama as a legitimate president and will always twist the facts to make him look like a caricature. This is because they are pandering to the South Carolina style of racist Republican teabagger. They do this because the rest of the conservatives don’t care and to get the racist vote, they have to.

However, polls are clearly showing, and have even before the Bin Laden execution, that there is a “base” of Republicans that respect and accept Obama. I wouldn’t go so far as to say “support,” but it’s interesting never-the-less. The Republican Party is not just split between teabaggers and libertarians, there are many other splinters, as well. It will be truly interesting to see who makes it out of the 2012 primary gauntlet this season. Despite what the punditry says, I think 2012 is a year we may actually see a fringe candidate win the primary, due to all the splintering.

They are a death cult. It’s as simple as that. They don’t want peace! They wouldn’t give Reagan credit, they would simply do whatever they had to in order to start a new holy war. Then they would give Reagan credit for winning that war, no matter what the actual outcome was.

  16. Sue Blue Says:

PL: Yes, they are a death cult. In fact, the reason they are anti-choice is not that they actually give a shit about babies. It’s because they realize they need fodder for their death-cannon. Desperate women are forced to have children who are then raised in poverty and who have few options except signing up to get killed in return for a paltry paycheck. Also, Repubs can’t afford to have women around who can do anything but incubate. Women who do things with their brains, like getting educated, are almost as bad as women who do things with their vaginas that aren’t sanctioned by god.

  17. Parrotlover77 Says:

@Sue Blue – Indeed. Further, they will exalt these groups and put them on a pedestal, all the while whittling away their rights, opportunities, and freedom. For an excellent example of this, see how the Catholic church treats women and how Republicans treat soldiers.

  18. Sue Blue Says:

The soldiers…that whole situation is just a fucking shame. My nephew served two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. On his first day in the field, his buddy was blown to bits right in front of him. Later that same day he was forced to shoot a ten-year-old kid. He went through all that, got decorated, and came home with such severe PTSD he can’t function at all in civilian life – but he wouldn’t get treatment because mental illness is so stigmatized in the military. He was afraid he’d lose benefits. Furthermore, when he came home to Fort Hood, Texas, it was to a desk assignment and a paycheck that makes working at McDonalds look attractive. He couldn’t afford a car, so he had to hitch rides to get to his job on base. His wife couldn’t find work. He got in trouble for being two minutes late because he had trouble getting a ride. He was angry, violent, and had lost forty pounds. When I heard about the trouble he was having, I researched the mental health treatment programs available at Fort Hood. Guess what – next to nothing. There was also a rumor going around that soldiers were not getting paid at all. My nephew and his wife were reduced to eating at soup kitchens when they could get off base. And no – they don’t get free meals on base. Grueling tours of duty, shitty mental health care, punitive retention practices, miniscule pay – and they wonder why soldiers high-side it and start shooting. For all their supposed support of the war machine, Repubs treat soldiers like dog shit. They’re like wagon-drivers who just keep beating the horse until it drops – they can always get another horse.

I don’t just say ‘Fuck Republicans!’ – I say ‘Fuck them sideways with a flaming branding iron followed by a Drano enema. And for Texas Republicans – make it two branding irons, a Texas Longhorn, and a Drano enema.’

There you have it, my rant for the day!

  19. Parrotlover77 Says:

That’s an awful story that I fear is not uncommon. I wish your nephew the best, whatever that is worth. I hope he can find inner peace someday.

  20. Sue Blue Says:

Thanks – he finally got his honorable discharge and the family got together and got him and his wife a new home and a job up north, or as he says “upwind of the bullshit”. He is in a great treatment program run by other veterans and seems to be doing much better.

Still, he’ll never get those years back. He was 18 when he went in and about 110 when he got out.

  21. Bacopa Says:

Sue Blue: glad to hear your nephew is on a better track. Hope it works out. We need to have better support for our veterans, but mostly we need to stop having so many veterans.

But I think Obama will gain some serious cred from the Osama solution. Veterans seem to cope better when their efforts are regarded as WORTH SOMETHING. Veitnam vets suffered more because their efforts were thought of as pointless. WWII vets saw and did all kinds of shit, but at least they had the satisfaction of getting the job done. If we can achieve some kind of meaningful “victory”, that will go a long way toward easing the suffering of our veterans. I think that some military and pro-military conservatives have gained a respect for “Bullet to the Brain” Obama. He seems to them to know who appropriate targets are and go for them effectively. This is so unlike how W did things.

There will be another attack and more bullets aimed at brains. It is likely one of these attacks will fail. I think the troops will forgive him.

Seriously, Obama has delivered our enemy unto us. I bet you a hundred bucks that military families come out +50 percent for Obama.

    • Pro-birth ideology poses an international public health threat

Religious anti-abortion ranters are not pro-life. They are pro-birth. There’s a big difference.

By dismissing women’s rights over their own bodies, fundies expect to regain control over reproduction and birth in accord with pro-natalist dictates. Pro-natalism, a term from the 19th century, sells a poisonous nostrum of sexual customs which do not belong in a contemporary planet-wide ethos which must treat women equally.

Fundie pretensions to secular power over abortion are not pro-life. They demand enforcement of ancient (and modern) near-eastern cult practices which amount to total reproductive repression: that no impediment whatsoever on births be permitted by law.

No sexual practices which preclude conception, homosexuality foremost. No chemical contraception. No physical barriers to conception. No abortions, not even in cases of rape, incest.

What happens to mother and child after birth is irrelevant to the men who run right-wing political and religious institutions.

Pro-natalism is the sexual theory of “tea party” ignorati, myriad fundie sects, mormons, and the rc-church.

Pro-birth, a public health disaster, is pro-mass-death. It creates disease, poverty, and ignorance worldwide by fostering overpopulation, damning safe (and joyous) non-reproductive sex, forbidding responsible sex education, and blocking medical research.
