I’ve said it here before, but it bears repeating again: “Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups” - George Carlin
Also worth highlighting: “Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, good people will do good things, and bad people will do bad things. But for good people to do bad things, it takes religion” - Steven Weinberg
“I don’t want a woman who would support her husband with the things that he done in office, and then, if she’ll support him, no tellin’ what she’ll do once she gets in there.”
Well, obviously, she’s talking about Hillary, but for whatever reason, this lady has chosen to speak in the abstract. So now it sounds like she’s discounting a presidential candidate on the grounds that she supports her husband.
“We need a President who supports our faith. Not his faith, OUR faith!”
That’s right. The President has to belong to the same faith as two hicks in rural Tennessee. That’s the sole qualification.
Now we’re on the teenage girl.
“We need God in our governments, because, the thing is, that they pulled God out, and, like she’s sayin’, ‘In God We Trust’ on our money, and we need to trust in God, we’re pullin’ away, everybody’s pullin’ away from God, and they don’t know what’s gonna happen to them.”
I have no idea WHAT she’s talking about and I doubt she does either. She’s barely coherent.
Hmm, a couple of grade-school lunch-ladies and one illiterate teenage girl. And these people are the “salt of the earth”? What, like being American means being able to shout “Praise Jaaaaayysus!” and quote Bible verses to suit every occasion? What these idiots want is not a President but a pastor; a kind of Jesus-daddy who’ll tell ‘em that it don’t matter that they can barely read and can’t figure out the tip on a pizza order and can’t pay their bills on their minimum-wage jobs at Wal-Mart - they’re SAVED! Jaysus is gonna make it come out all right in the end, when them smartie-pants snobs with their fancy book-learnin’ an’ science-y stuff an’ “evilution” are gonna burn in the LAKE OF FAHR! Especially that bra-burnin’ lesbian Bride of Satan Hillary an’ that uppity…Muslim.
I would have thought this was a parody if I hadn’t seen this sort of stupidity with my own eyes as a child of a fundie family.
The US, it seems has been taken over by non-thinking, illiterate morons who believe in a magic man.. This is the most CONFEDERATE Flag waving display I have seen! Embarrassing!
Speaking of the Confederacy, the Confederate Constitution, it’s worth pointing out, included “God” in the preamble, unlike the United States Constitution. I really think that’s very relevant to the thought process that continues today in those that have “pride” in the Confederate “heritage” — using religion to make excuses for horrible behavior.
The preamble ends, “…invoking the favor and guidance of Almighty God do ordain and establish this Constitution for the Confederate States of America.”
Apparently this holy guidance they invoked led to Article 1, Section 9, “(4) No bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law denying or impairing the right of property in negro slaves shall be passed.”
You can’t fool me No Bama. You are not a Christian. No Christian would ever vote Pro-Choice and you are the biggest deciver I have ever seen. You also voted three times against the Born Alive Protection Act. Your preacher, J. Wright is really into Black liberation theology. Scary stuff from the pulpit. Tell us about your political God Father, Mr. Jones? How about Bill Ayers? You are scum.
You are assuming, Ron, that they can find their way to the voting booth. You are also assuming that the poll workers in the area know how to turn in the ballots to the election board. Based on the video and the response from Brundige, I’m not entirely convinced those two hurdles can be jumped by them.
LOL, I love the “Black liberation theology” line. That’s just a few hairs short of “know your place, boy.” Disgusting.

hooray for misinformation!
hooray for intellectual duplicity!
hooray for willful ignorance!
hooray for biblical cherry-picking!
hooray for permissive child abuse!
hooray for southern twangs!
hooray for crosses over every door in case you forget what religion you practice!
hooray for religiously expressive coinage!
hooray for women speaking out on politics even though they’re supposed to be submissively barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen!
o….wait….i guess they were in the kitchen, anyway….

“Worship the flag”
Telling isn’t it?
The good news is that these people probably won’t vote for McCain either…

Gawd the irony. Obama is probably a better Christian than any of these southern hicks.

To counter that video, here’s Marcus Brigstock on a fantastic comedic diatribe about the abrahamic religions:

Funny. True. And it probably won’t help a bit, unfortunately…

These people embarass me.
As a Tennesseean, I am utterly ASHAMED to even be in the same category as them.
