Poll: How Many Neurons Now?

OneNeuronNow is always running polls. On Sundays, they recap the results of the last week. I sometimes look at it and roll my eyes. (By that, I mean I sometimes look at the results. I always roll my eyes!)

Republicans in name only

All three options on this first poll are revealing. The first answer suggests that there are a lot of “not a true Republicans” out there. Funny how exclusionary that attitude is. Just like a certain fundamentalist religion we all know.

Interestingly, though, the third answer acknowledges that even their god-by-revisionist-history isn’t a Republican by those standards.

The answer that gets the most votes, however, tells us how many GOP fundies read OneNeuronNow. (It doesn’t tell us how many GOP fundies there are, just where they go when Fox News lets them down.)

Why wouldn’t the Republican National Committee ask GOP candidates to embrace all ten conservative principles?

Consumers are getting mugged

Poll number 2 is about the government non-takeover of health care. Option 1 suggests billing congressmen for any related tax increases. I guess paying for an illegal war was just ducky with them. It’s OK to pay when you get to kill brown people. It’s not OK to pay when you might be giving some brown people life-saving medicine.

I disagree with the most popular answer. It’s not nearly strong enough. Make them enroll in the crappiest plan on the market.

If your senator votes for the current healthcare reform bill, what might you send him or her for a Christmas present?

Slavery is a tradional value

The only thing surprising about this next poll is that none of the options is especially hate-filled, merely bigoted.

That first option does make me wonder whether the 37% who chose that also want to return to traditional American property laws.

The fundies despise calling it marriage, but they’re OK with allowing “civil unions”. Therefore, to also return to traditional property values, we merely have to rename slavery. Most fundies would object to using the word “union” in this context. Let’s call it “civil confederacies”!

What’s your reaction to New York lawmakers voting down a bill allowing homosexual ‘marriage’ in that state?

I guess this last one isn’t much of a surprise, is it?

Who would you consider to be the current frontrunner for the GOP presidential bid in 2012?

We should all hope that Palin runs for President in ’12. She’s fantastic at highlighting everything that’s wrong with her political movement and she’s got next to no chance of winning.

Oh that picture at the end is hilarious!

  3. Jerad Says:

And nice that there’s not even an option for supporting gay marriage on the third one.

One of the first things I’d do is eradicate the plan to which they now all subscribe. I’d certainly require them to enroll in the most popular plan, at least.

I’m not familiar with this website, but judging solely from the answers they offer to their poll questions, my guess is that I won’t take any steps to change that. “OneNeuronNow?” Is that all they have left?

    Great pic at the end!

This is also happening right now on the Democratic side. Being a Big Tent party has its advantages, even if it’s hard to see right now with the Blue Dogs ruining health care reform. My preferred solution is a Big Tent party that runs strong liberal candidates in the primary. If they lose, then we know we got the best we can get. These days, finding a better Republican compared to a Blue Dog is extraordinarily rare.

A bill for related tax increases

That is just freaking hillarious. Those 16.72%, about 0.01% will actually experience a tax increase. And they are rich fucks exploiting tax loopholes already, so they are likely paying less net percentage of their income in taxes than anybody reading this blog.

Indeed, she is a candidate that all fundies and all liberals can support in the Republican primaries. lol

Are you so sure Palin stands no chance of winning? I felt the same way about W in 2000. He was such a drooling idiot that I never thought he had a chance against Gore. The same way Obama benefited from a perfect storm (the public finally waking up to a litany of scandals and corruption from 8 years of republican reign, the complete collapse of the economy, etc…) Palin could easily swindle a nation of gullible, uneducated, jeebus-suckling numbnuts given the right context — for instance if a terrorist attack or a major natural catastrophy occurred. Okay, I’m thinking “Escape From L.A.” here, but hey, people really are THAT stupid.

  9. Parrotlover77 Says:

Only 20% of the public thinks Palin is qualified to be president. That’s not asking how many would vote for her, that’s asking if people think she’s even allowed to be in office at all! By contrast, pre-Palin, I would have answered “yes” on that question regarding McCain. I thought he was qualified until he picked Palin as running mate. I would never vote for him, but he met the minimum standards, in my opinion, for holding office.

Palin winning the Republican primary would be, in my opinion, the official end of the Republican party.

  10. mary b Says:

Palin would be ripped apart in the rethuglican’t primaries.
She hasn’t got a shot in hell of ever advancing. Too many skeletons in her closet that haven’t even seen the light of day…yet.
It’ll be a blast to watch, though.

  11. Parrotlover77 Says:

The chances of her winning the primary are very small. The chances of her running as a third party candidate are much higher. The teabaggers love her, so it would siphon off a large number of motivated conservative voters.

    Good times.
